My Story
I grew up on the east coast north of New York City and received my M.S. in Exercise Sport Science and Coaching from Smith College in Northampton, MA. I was a collegiate head tennis and squash coach for many years at various east coast institutions including Smith, Wellesley and Colby Colleges as well as the University of Massachusetts. The active and outdoor Colorado lifestyle intrigued me, and I moved to Denver to work for the United States Tennis Association (USTA). After several years with the USTA, I missed the personal connection that coaching provided and became an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer. I have been coaching groups and individuals for over 15 years and live in Denver with my partner and our two dogs and two cats.
My Philosophy
My father passed away from heart disease shortly after I graduated from college, and my sister suffered with diabetes after receiving a kidney transplant several years ago. These experiences have shaped and ingrained in me the NEED to make wellness a PRIORITY. Many people, women in particular, have been unsuccessful in finding the time, expertise or motivation to exercise properly and enjoy it. I want YOU to be successful and to enjoy making wellness a positive daily habit. We may not be able to control our genes, but we can adopt a healthy lifestyle. Research has demonstrated that we can even reverse disease through the incorporation of exercise and healthy nutrition. My sister who suffered from diabetes lost ten pounds and completely reversed her symptoms and disease. She is living proof that a healthy lifestyle should be the number one priority in our lives.
Wellness coaching and helping people achieve their goals (whatever they may be) is my passion. I enjoy teaching my clients sound exercise techniques in a challenging, fun and positive way. My clients impress me every day and experience amazing results because they show up with a positive attitude, work hard and keep their goals in sight. Many ask if there is a secret to successful coaching – I believe it is a way of “being” and working with people. Show up every day with an energetic and positive attitude, make the client your first priority and enjoy making a difference in people’s lives.
I have helped clients lose 10 – 50 pounds over time, become faster, stronger, and enjoy exercise and life more, even those with no previous fitness experience. Being a part of that success is incredibly rewarding and I look forward to helping you ... "shine"!
